Jewish State, back in action after three years of discouragement
Ezra Ben-Shalom Why has Jewish State remained inactive since the Gaza withdrawal of 2005, and why has it returned now? The author began Jewish State in 2005, convinced that he could accompany a certain readership toward the understanding that the Children of Israel must have a small bit of land on this planet, less then one percent of the Middle East, the Eternal Jewish Homeland, which they have continually inhabited for three thousand years. Scarcely any other nation finds the need even to justify its existence, but the Children confront an almost inexplicable global hatred, so deeply entrenched within collective patterns of thought that few recognize it in their society or themselves. The Children, of course, have found themselves repeatedly and barbarically traumatized throughout recent millenia. Inescapably, like other tormented populations, they have acquired a mental disorder known as Identification with the Aggressor (I.A.). They confound the interests and perspectives of their murderers with those of their own Nation, seeking thereby to gain some control over the monster known as Inquisition, Nazism, or Islamist Extremism. Unfortunately, the beast must not be tricked with defence mechanisms, but slain with sweat and steel. Instead of confronting the immediate threat to their survival, many Jews thus seek shelter in a fantastical forest. Utter insanity passes for scholarship and innovative statecraft. Cataclysm approaches. Watching helplessly as yesterday's war heros led the I.A.-infected Children into their abyssal descent, the author turned away in despair. As the Sharon government surrendered Israeli soil to people sworn to the destruction of the Jewish State, without even empty promises in exchange, he asked himself, "Is this what G-d has set down as my life's work? To ride helplessly behind the host of the Children, shouting warnings from a lame donkey, as they go over the edge?" After three years of inexcusable despair and inaction, the author has excepted that possibility. However, he hopes now to lend his voice to a growing chorus who see what lies beyond the near future's thin mist. Although using different terminology, such as the "Guilty Israeli", more and more Jews are realizing that I.A. has brought them to the brink. In addition, he can no longer simply watch passively as almost the entire world cooperates to demonize and further traumatize Israel. To take but one example, foreign journalists partner with Arab anti-Zionists to present the Middle East's only democracy as a bastion of cruelty. Seeking to enable the extremists' cynical manipulations, they pretend that Israel could choose not to defend their people from missiles and murder-suicide killers (such as the author of today's hideous yeshiva massacre.) Thus, according to these distortions, Hamas does not bear the responsibility for the dead Arab civilians accidentally killed in anti-terror operations; rather, the inherently wicked Children of Israel bear the full burden of guilt. The author sees it as his special mission to orient the Children to reality - to turn them away from I.A. and the distortions that the world offers. A determined patriotic and religious fire still burns within some Jewish hearts, and with determined, unified struggle, perhaps survival remains possible. |
